Dummed-down news in the UK.
'Modernised' UK news typically reports on gaudy liberal sensationalism, rather than the archaic socialist-news-agenda of the now defunct UK social(ist)-democracy of post-war UK (social) Conservative and (socialist) Labour governments until circa the 1990's.
As a result of popular culture of the 1990's, and scandals involving huge payouts, UK journalism has been politically maneuvered into tabloidism by the domination of new-age fashions albeit new-age lifestyle idealisms, partly as a result of things like the Phone Hacking Scandal which destroyed clandestine methods of UK journalism akin to the once famous methods of the paparazzi, who were outlawed, especially under US law, which explicitly addresses stalking and invasion of physical privacy.

This has undermined the ability of UK journalistic organizations to function in a legal framework. UK national and local news programmes now tend to only make reports about upbeat new-age scenarios, like, environmentalism, charity fund raising work, (new-age church) religion, children, animals, (church) community volunteers and how '(church) food-banks are helping to feed the less affluent'.

NO MORE NEW PETROL & DIESEL CARS; will the UK have an economy whatsoever come 2030?
Traditional UK broadsheet newspapers, like The Times newspaper, remodeled their broadsheet newspapers into much smaller sized newspapers circa 2003, similar to the tabloids.

More recently, UK national and local television news programmes are now dominated by new-age styled upbeat stories. Barely a news item goes by without some sort of new-age lifestyle idealism. Although many news items still exist on the internet, there is widespread dumming-down of local, national and international news. This so-called 'tabloid news' now rarely reflects everyday issues; like stocks and shares, the price of oil, and UK exchange rates.

There is a worrying UK trend of denying news without a paid subscription; which may shortly be followed by the BBC who have implemented a phasing out of the television license fee after circa 2027, in favor of a subscription BBC television service.

The environmental cost of newspapers has been offset by their online presence, which in some cases has led to a solely subscription service. But as popular culture continues to dumb-down the status of news, more tabloid and sensationalistic stories provide less and less in-depth content.

For example, the Financial Times no longer offers any news without subscription, and which costs £309 for a full years subscription service. Therefore if the UK public had to pay to view every news story they clicked-on in search-engine results, the result would be virtually no-news. This scenario is becoming commonplace today and moving very quickly towards all news content being delivered by subscription only.

Here is an example of the bureaucracies facing journalists (internationally), (see link),where The Australian government (has) passed a landmark media law that would make Google and Facebook pay news publishers for displaying their content.

The result is now an extremely dumbed-down UK news service which barely provides a realistic platform despite a pressing magnitude of issues. Meanwhile, the UK continues with its surreal battle of idealisms; between the environmentalists who want to stop global warming with things like electric cars, and the traditionalists who fear the waning vacuum of economic activity is leaving the UK's economy devastated.
